Brookhaven Bolt
The 2009 Brookhaven Bolt 5k is confirmed for Saturday May 16th at 8:00am. This year's event fee is $25 for all who register before Thursday May 14th at 5:00pm; and $30 for all subsequent registrations. Registration will cut off at 7:45am on race day.

Taste of Brookhaven 2009
During preparations for this year's Taste of Brookhaven, the Brookhaven Arts Alliance has reached the difficult decision to cancel this year's event. Since its inception this popular event has sold out and we were looking forward to another sell out year as we celebrate our 5th anniversary. However, a challenging sponsorship climate coupled with an increase in event overhead, has led the BAA to view this cancellation as a sound business decision due to our limited resources.
On a positive note, the Brookhaven Arts Alliance will focus on the launch of our community art classes. This initiative represents the critical momentum necessary to reach our ultimate objective to build a Center for the Arts in Brookhaven. Thanks to the generous cooperation of DeKalb County, the BAA will be teaching these initial art classes in the recently constructed Ashford Park Community Center. |

Rent the Community Center at Ashford Park
Now that our new building at Ashford Park is open, we've had considerable interest in how residents can reserve it for parties and other gatherings.
Here's the detail:
Standing capacity is 150 persons.
Cost: $100, +$25/hour after 4 hours.
If you plan to have an inflatable "bouncer", there is a $55 "inflatable permit" required.
No alcohol is permitted.
The building must be vacated by midnight.
No chairs or tables are available - Bring your own. (Eventually, there will be tables and chairs available.)
Applications must be made at least 15 days in advance of your event.
To reserve the building, call the Dekalb County information line at (404) 371-2631. They will take your information and the appropriate person will get back to you.
